Don Genord is a registered financial consultant with Financial Independence, LLC and Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. He has over 11 years' experience in the securities industry. In addition to having his Series 7, 63, 65, and life & health insurance licenses, Don has also earned a Bachelor of Science in finance and an MBA from Oakland University.
Prior to joining Financial Independence, Don was a key staff member in the product development division of a Detroit-based engineering firm. This position provided exposure to creative thinking and problem-solving skills that focused on the development of applications specific to client needs. That skill set has translated to analyzing retirement needs and developing strategies to work toward retirement goals.
As a financial advisor, Don believes trust and understanding are paramount to all. If clients don't understand who they're investing with, what they own, or the potential outside risks to their portfolio, then the advisor hasn't done their job. Don's primary goal is to not only develop a comprehensive financial strategy for his clients, but to also ensure they understand it.
What's work without a little play? Don enjoys weekend runs on the Paint Creek Trail with his family in tow (though they might argue he's the one in tow), time spent "up north" or "upstate" depending on where you grew up in Michigan, and traveling abroad. When not in the car headed north or on a plane, Don loves to play host to friends and family.
